Writing content - some tips

1. Who are you talking to?
It's important to use the kind of language that will reflect well with your target audience. Don't alienate them and make it easy to read.

2. What do you want them to do?
If you want people to look up your website, make it obvious. Or maybe it's to actually buy something - make it easy.

3. Describe how things will improve if people take your advice.
Paint a picture of the outcome they can expect. Use customer examples if you can to make it real.

4. Make it personal.
This is a one-to-one conversation so use language to reflect that.

5. Use your uniqueness.
You're not a me-too outfit? So don't sound like everyone else. Make sure you point out your unique selling proposition.

6. Use the "so what" test.
Whatever sentence or paragraph you write - if you can't answer the "so what" question satisfactorily then re-write it.

7. Make sure you get their attention early on.
We're all guilty of skim reading for a few seconds then moving on, so make your first messages compelling.
